      3 Things to do for success at MITRE

      Pros

      The MITRE corporation is a non-compete contractor that performs tasks for the U. S. government. To be successful here, (One) Be aware of office politics and know which group is being favored by level six and seven executives. (Two) Don't do evil, but actively defend your reputation from scapegoating, corporate-hug, and negative remarks from competitions. (Three) You will unlikely to receive credit for your work unless you prearrange for the credit. If you don't claim credit it will come back to bite you during performance review.

      Cons

      (One) Get to know your manager's background and spend time to talk, chat, and be friend with them (you have many managers). (Two) If you a technical skills, make sure you work side-tasks to keep your skill up-to-date. MITRE does not support nor can legally produce technical products due to its non-compete status. (Three) Don't complaint if you are the only one working hard on the project, just get things done and give everyone you can think of credit.
