      Pros

      MITRE has some of the government's most interesting work and operates as their scientists. That means your work is always interesting and almost always novel.

      Cons

      It's not a young office and is very quiet during the day - to the point where you wonder why you even come in.

      Interesting and progressive technology, average compensation, stable organization, slower pace than private sector, moderately resistant to change, fairly weak leadership. MITRE seems to be resting on their laurels from the past.

      Highly bureaucratic, slow to change, salaries lower than average.

      Pros

      As a technical center employee, there is a lot of variety of important and interesting work. MITRE work is for the public interest, which is good, because it is shared with industry and government A lot of very intelligent and good people to work with Decent benefits, although they have decreased over the years

      Cons

      Upward mobility is difficult. It is not enough to be very good at your job and perform well. It is quite difficult to get promoted. Many people leave MITRE and then come back in order to get a promotion. Pay is not that great. And raises are not that great. In spite of excellent reviews and being a consistent performer for 14 years, I haven't had a raise in six years and never been promoted.
