Investors over Residents and Employees

Pros

Having great and positive peer co-workers (leasing agents, resident service coordinators, and maintenance techs) work with you in the trenches make the job bearable.

Cons

Management is extremely disconnected from lower level employees and residents. They are much more focused on getting and keeping money for the company and investors than for the well-being of their employees or residents. If you're a part time worker, you are of little to no value to them and they make it known. Also from personal experience, if you are offered a job in a management position (like I was) they can and will rip the job away from you without notification so they can hire someone else for less money if you attempt to negotiate. I was shocked but also extremely glad I hadn't given notice at my full time job before it happened or I could've been in a very bad situation. Full time workers tend to receive better treatment, which is a shame as I would work for them on top of my full time job and being in school full time often working 14+ days in a row. I was fine with putting in the time, but being taken for granted was the most exhausting part. If you want a job that values you, this company would not be one of my recommendations.

Pros

In the Leasing Department with current management there is a great environment that is very positive and up-lifting. I feel like the team wants you succeed and prosper within the company. With over 5,000 units (and growing) in Hyde Park there are many ways to close any type of client - which means more commission - great commission structure. With the use of Salesforce and its integration of all the different systems that we use make our job much easier than most leasing offices - no paper leases or filing. The position is also very sales oriented, so you do not have to deal with packages, work orders, and other items that take away from your time to deal with your prospective clients. You also receive milage reimbursement, free food at meetings/events, and some other small perks.

Cons

There is a big disconnect with the Leasing Department and other Departments. This can cause issues with the entire work environment outside the department. There are also so many steps to close a lease and the process takes a while to get down, and once its down it changes. You also tend to mess up your work/life balance because you are so worried to meet your goals at times. (At the end of the day - there are many cons that are nerve wrecking, but in time you will find the best way to make it work for you)

Cons

High employee and management turnover Inconsistent Policies Questionable ethical compliance Lack of training Commission are low by comp standards, but again, large portfolio.
