Pros

Great benefits & discounts! Location Director was knowledgeable

Cons

-H.R. overrides employees thoughts driven only by the Manager's opinion. -H.R. puts together an open table discussion for the color dept., and after hearing that the dept. has major issues, act's blind to the situation and keeps the manager on board. -The manager, is allowed to call employees outside their birth name, and introduce her employees to co-workers as nervous nelly etc. -4mos. til my 1yr anniversary, where you can apply for other positions, I applied, H.R. was supposed to keep it btwn us two, she told my managers, which the manager even said its a perfect fit, but dismissed it because it is 4mos away from my anniversary, knowing it can take that long for the whole process to be completed. -Caddy, Caddy, Caddy!!! Even the 40 yr. old Directors of Product were immature. They all talk behind your back, but I guess that's everywhere in the fashion industry! Tattle tales galore, the Design team tattles, and they aren't even in your department. Everyone is consumed with looking the best to management and not just focusing on work.

Pros

Systems are very sophisticated. Experiences vary according to whether or not you are supervised by someone with concern for your development and the capability to coach/train. The experience can fast track an employee in one area whiIe the person sitting next to you with the same skill set takes twice as long to get promoted. It''s a crap shoot whether this happens or not and it directly affects your promotions.

Cons

In my experience a lot of manager at all levels of the company have excellent analytical skills and very poor people skills.

Pros

You will find the honesty and integrity of management inspiring at your next workplace.

Cons

Unlike other retailers, Macy's does not appear to me to genuinely enjoy serving the intrinsic needs of their customers. Macy's appears motivated solely by financial return on investment - the result of the pressure from their heavy debt load. Product prices, coupons, and credit card incentives are all gimmicks to trick customers and pillage wallets. In return, customers disrespect Macy's by returning used clothing, demanding unreasonable discounts, and even damaging the physical building. A sad circle. A race to the bottom. An environment of despair.
