Pros

I worked as part of the visual team and I really enjoyed being able to express my creativity and the people within the team were great to work with and inspiring.

Cons

low pay, little room for growth withing a visual position. There are several associates and managers that aren't willing to do their job. Poor attitudes and lack of training.

Pros

Macy's are all over the place. If you'd like a place to work that will let you interact with people, it will certainly do that. They are a busy environments and are conveniently located in most malls. If you want to get your foot in the door with loss prevention- it may be a good place to start.

Cons

There is a high turnover rate for most management and associates. They do not care about people- just about numbers. It's sickening. If you didn't catch a certain number of shoplifters (the number coming from LAST year) then you were looked upon badly. You are also expected to take care of operations and other maintenance issues that you were never told about. It is an interesting job, if you can stand the low pay and horrible people- as well as the constant pressure and vigilance. Bottom line? People won't like you- and will see you as an enemy out to get them-- because you are. You're waiting for someone to do any little thing wrong to fire them. If you can live with that? Take the job.

Pros

There are a lot of opportunities within the company and it is possible to move to other areas and work in different aspects of retail. There is a strong training program for college graduates and it's a great company to have on your resume.

Cons

Macy's operates on the fewest number of employees as possible. Jobs are so widely defined, I have found it difficult to own and be great at a few specific job functions because I am spread so thin.
