Pros

There are no good reasons to work for Macy's. It's horrible! Used to be good but not anymore since we became Macy's South.

Cons

No life outside of Macy's. Low pay with little chance of advancement unless you suck up. You have no help most days. If someone calls off, you're on your own, in my case running an entire floor by myself. Backstabbing by fellow employees for sales and credit cause we're all pressured constantly for more even when there are no customers in the store

Pros

I think this is a good starting point if you are motivated and willing to work, also if you need to make a career change this is also a good company. Macy's is a retail giant so there are alot of good reasons to seek them out they have good training programs so take advantage of all they have to offer, the benefits are decent and if you are interested in learning the retail business from the ground up or if you have aspirations to go in other directions such as buying or merchandising, or management you will be given the opportunity here but just like any other company you will have to work for it times are tough right now be prepared.

Cons

Retail is not for everyone, the hours are tough and if you really need your Holiday's this is not for you.

Pros

Macy's is a fantastic place to learn all facets of the retail business from banking and finance to logistics and visual merchandising. Everyone has the opportunity to learn as much as they are capable of learning. This makes for a great environment for natural talents to thrive and shine.

Cons

Macy's does not always compensate well. Many employees are in roles with responsibilities that would typically be completed by 2 or even 3 people. This makes it difficult for anyone to become outstanding in planning and execution or learn from the goods and bads of history/experience.
