Pros

They are desperate to hire anyone. So its relatively easy to get a job there. Great for Seasonal or Part time work.

Cons

Everything is a Con. Low, Low, low Pay. Horrible benefits, more discounts for the Customers than Employees. Lowbrow Customers, not enough realistic incentives (Sales Managers hand out single pieces of Starburst Candy for opening up Credit Cards LOL) No Training, most of Selling staff are under Educated and Sloppy. No Development whatsoever, managers are just moved around from Department to department, not gaining any Skills or Specialty. Possibly the lowest Standards in Retail...even lower than Marshalls. Cant find Merchandise due to over saturation of goods, little to no recovery and nonexistent Merchandising Standards. No other Prominent Retailer will hire you if Macys is on your resume. No one. Expect 15-20cent Raises across the board, even if you are the best at what you do. They will just expect you to work harder and pick up the slack of the multitude of incompetent mangers and Associates. No Overtime. The Chain seems to have a strange small town, slack jawed yokel Mentality. Anyone that dares to speak up, or has any Experience is Witch Hunted for being intelligent. So just play dumb.

Pros

All online scheduling. Most employees seem nice.

Cons

Pretty much every thing. I was hired and lasted about 3 weeks. I am not one to quit, by the way, I also am a pretty positive person and pretty easy going. I worked a total of 5 hours in 3 weeks of being hired. About 3 people called HR to complain about having no hours for 3 weeks at a time while I was in "training". Which training has nothing to do with anything, by the way. If you are assigned to be on the flex team, do not take the job. It's fine if you are looking for a side job, having maybe one shift per week, but not a real job. Also one of the HR people treated me like I was a complete idiot and I couldn't of possibly figured out how to work their employee website/remember what I had and had not completed for training. I'm not usually one to degrade people for any type of job they are doing but I really wanted to pull out that I am 13 credits away from having my BS in zoology and environmental biology, just to shut him up....But I didn't. I also knew nothing for my first day. No one told me where to come in or where/how to clock in. I didn't even know where I was going to work. I knew the loading dock/backroom but no one ever showed me where that was. I thought every thing would be in the packet they gave me but it was mostly what to wear/lunch breaks. Also when I went to quit, I had no idea who to call. I was never given a manager number or anything. I ended up just calling the store operator and she connected me to the right department. They acted like they get this all the time.....so they know they are terrible.... The 20% discount you can only use if you have a Macys card or get approved for one/ approved for a prepaid card. The pay is also terrible, around 9 bucks an hour, if you are lucky. There are no benefits. There are MUCH better retail companies out there. I gave Macy's the benefit of the doubt even though 90% of the reviews for part time/flex team were negative. They are well deserved negative comments.
