The best online school ever!

Pros

Online ESL teachers know how hard it can be out there, the pay can be low, if the pay's good the company is a mess.. I've changed many companies and when I first started working at ME they were much smaller(growing so fast) and I was sceptic, didn't seem real, I didn't just find employers, I found friends, literally! (I know I sound like a commercial, but that's simply the truth). So normally my first thought was-they're faking it, but nope, I'm still here and the situation is just getting better. They are not all about getting from you what they need, work as a robot for their profit, the student as the customer is always right and can do whatever, no.. they'll do anything to protect their teachers, to help with everything, to encourage, advise, help you and give you a chance to grow with them and take more responsibilities with changing/adding positions (I started as a teacher, then became an interviewer), they'll really do just about anything to make you feel good working for them. I would most honestly recommend this company to every single teacher out there, and I'd sleep peacefully :)

Cons

The only thing was the platform and bugs, but it's fixed (they asked us what's wrong with our platform, what do you need us to change..and they've changed every single thing, imagine that)

Teaching w/Magic Ears

Pros

- pay (but even that comes at a price: carrot exchange). - Alphabet letter classes (because they videos do most of the work for you - easy classes).

Cons

- children mis-behave at the price of the teacher. - teachers must follow strict rules - parents & students do not. - burn-out quickly because of the bottom lines (teach with passion! always smile!). - don't expect there to be communication (you wait weeks on end for a response). - & my favorite - their platform is glitchy and have the nerve to ALWAYS blame it on the teachers.

Pros

- Work from Home - Teaching curriculum already done and prepared, no need to prepare entire lessons - The carrot system to cancel classes hassle free

Cons

- Getting raises & "ranking up" in teacher status is based on an O.P.V made up of factors out of teacher control such as getting trial students in your classes, and them converting to being Magic Ears students after completing your class. - Also part of the OPV is student ratings - out of 5 stars. It's literally small children assigning subjective star ratings and leaving gibberish comments like "alkjhasdgjbadg" that are deciding your ability to get a raise. Non-justified 1-star ratings that pull down your OPV are never cleared away by Magic Ears. It's demoralizing and disrespectful for students.
