Pros

Magic Ears is a family friendly company! I never need to worry about losing my job if my daughter wakes up sick, or we have a family emergency. Magic Ears is so supportive and caring. Magic Ears also has a generous cancellation policy. Secondary positions are also a perk of working with Magic Ears. I have a few secondary positions that allow my to maximize my income outside of teaching hours. Magic Ears also offers a higher pay to teachers.

Cons

I don't have any complaints from my time with Magic Ears. There have been "bumps in the road" for me, as with any position. Magic Ears has worked diligently to resolve all of my concerns - many times going above and beyond my expectations. Magic Ears is always looking to improve and seeking input from teachers. No company is perfect, but Magic Ears is so happy to help teachers.

Pros

I've been teaching online for quite a long time, it's my full-time job and I've changed so many companies, wanted to try different things. Only at ME supervisors know who you are, know your face, don't address to you only as "teacher" and that's hard to find. Try sending a message to some of the other companies that something should change, let's see if they'll answer! Besides being a teacher, I am also an interviewer at Magic Ears and I know the process, that's why I can say-if someone tells you they've been treated badly during the interview, that's quite a lie. The company has requirements like every other company, that energy part-for some not too big of a deal, for others it's too much, it all depends on you and your ability to adjust. But, they give you EVERYTHING you need to prepare, they tell you what to expect and exactly what they want, so many videos, a Facebook group to answer Qs.. literally everything. You'll know exactly what you need to do, it all comes down to whether you can. I see bad reviews from people who simply couldn't do it, not cause they are bad teachers, but just cause the way we work is not for them, we can't all be the same and able to do the same and that's absolutely okay! That's what people should realize. Bad reviews travel much faster and are much louder, unfortunately, even when there are more positive ones. My advice is-apply and see for yourself, the only way you'll know for sure.

Cons

To be honest, the only thing I consider bad is that they let people demand too much. they ask, they get. The first time they don't get something as fast as they wanted bad reviews start pouring. It's not fair, nor realistic.

Don't Waste Your Time Applying for This Job

Pros

I guess the pay is OK, however, you could literally make as much money working for another online teaching company so it's not anything you can't find elsewhere or is primarily exclusive to Magic Ears.

Cons

The Application process is daunting. They have extremely weird requirements, you need to be happy and peppy 24/7 in order to get hired by them. I don't know if acting like a circus clown constitutes good teaching but to each it's own. So, unless you're one of those rare few who can put on a good show don't bother with this job. The other thing I've noticed from watching a couple of demo videos on Youtube is that some applicants don't fully exhibit that energetic, peppy persona this company is going for, they're not over the top ridiculous for sure and yet they get hired. So if you live within the US, is a Caucasian I'm sure you'll get the job other than that don't bother even if you try your best to exhibit everything they're looking for and you act like a circus clown, chances are they won't hire you because "you're not a good fit" literally.

Thanks for your feedback and we are sorry to hear this. Magic Ears cares all of our teachers and we are so sorry to let you have misunderstanding. We pay the same attention to all of our teachers and our teachers enjoy work with Magic Ears. Since we do think the energy and passion of teachers can be quite helpful to children in English learning. Thus, we attach great importance to this personality of a candidate. We respect all of our teachers and we will do our best to help our teachers solve problems. Sorry again to bring you negative thoughts and please don't hesitate to contact us directly.
