Pros
Aside from being gainfully employed and enjoying the company of my coworkers there are very few pros that come to mind.
Cons
Southern Maine Medical Center recently had a consulting /efficiency firm visit the hospital to look for ways to save money. The result was a significant amount of lay-offs and benefit reductions amongst other changes. There is very minimal opportunity for pay raises or bonuses. the max pay raise is 2% per year. The majority of these issues are a reflection of the financial state of the hospital due to outside factors but it does not change the fact that the cons far outweigh the pros.
