Pros

Manpower offered a great pay rate compared to other temporary agencies I had worked for. Although my job did not turn into full-time, I liked it a lot.

Cons

I was not able to get hired on throught the company I was working for, but it was because of the economic decline.

Pros

60 years of expertise in the industry, used to be a major innovator in large scale staffing services. Had excellent resources. Used to have first rate training programs. Used to hire the best people in the industry. Has been run by three very smart CEOs. Has one of the very few universally recognized brand names in the staffing industry. Has a very impressive foot hold in many countries outside of North America.

Cons

The CEO was too busy on long range global projects to mind the store with the USA branch operations. Franchise operations, which operate on several continents had management teams that were much more accountable, produced revenue consistently. But the corporate-owned branch operations in the USA were, for many years, crippled by teams of inept senior managers who weren't fired fast enough, causing the massive loss of their best talent. A corporate culture that demanded deference to anyone with a Director or higher title guaranteed that the complacent stayed in charge. Although in recent years, the corporation made changes, throwing out some of the worst managers, the damage was done, with market share within the USA markedly reduced.

Pros

Co-workers at the office I worked at under Manpower were great. I had no issues with any of them, and would have been happy to return to be employed directly by them.

Cons

Manpower was not forthcoming with information that would have helped me in deciding what would be the best move for me personally. I was told that I would be under contract with them for a period of time, and that the other company would then decide whether or not to hire me directly. During my contract time, Manpower would get a percentage of the pay that the other company gave for me and my position. I thought the amount they made off of me was a little unreasonable, but went along with it because I got along great with my co-workers and supervisor at the other company, and I thought the job looked pretty secure. However, near the end of my contract, I got a call from Manpower saying that the contract had been terminated, and that I was not to contact the company I had been working at. I had left work on great terms earlier that day, with no indication of anything like this. No reason was given, and the Manpower employee made me feel like I must have done something terrible, but woudn't tell me anything. I was shocked. I had left another job behind, one that I had worked at for years, but that didn't pay as well and didn't offer a chance for advancement, to take this job. I had also moved to a different city to be closer to this job. The way Manpower presented itself, I thought this was a good move, and offered much more of a chance to advance in my field. I still have not been given any explanation for what happened. I feel that Manpower used me to make money, with no regard for me as a person.
