Pros

Working with the patients was very satisfying. Having any direct contact with management is toxic and would ruin your day repeatedly.

Cons

Some of the lowest, moral punching, degrading disrespectful behavior I have ever experienced in all my years of employment, This came from management and co-workers. Very, very ugly stuff. Favoritism run rampant. Back stabbing everywhere. The only professionals were the M.D.s Take a close look at turnover, if you can stomach it. Largest group of horrible managers ever.

Pros

The vast majority of employees seem to be happy to be working at MGH. The staff in custodial, admit roles and supplies management were most appreciative and helpful as I learned the ropes.

Cons

There is less employee camaraderie at this hospital compared with others. Could be due to all of the technology (e-charting etc) and resulting decrease in socializing.

Exceptional Benefits but you will burn out

Pros

Exceptional benefits with participation in the wellness program. High compensation and solid PTO. The hospital has a lovely view of Mt. Tam. There are some really smart, dedicated, driven and passionate people that work here who care about patients, colleagues and the success of the organization. These employees are from all levels (bottom to top) and are trying to improve the overall operations, flow and culture of Marin General Hospital. It should be noted that some leadership and staff is really giving it their all.

Cons

With the handful of great, high performing employees there are also a TON of low performing, disrespectful, entitled, poor communicators, and burnt out staff. These low performers require a lot of hand holding and can't be held accountable. It is exhausting! Again, in all levels from the bottom to the top. A lot of the process here are old and need to updated to improve efficiency. Let's speed up to 2015 and get with technology.
