Pros

Pay is fair. Work week is standard m-f for the most part.

Cons

I was told winter layoff was three weeks when interviewed. It is two months. Managers are idiots who prove the Dilbert principle true consistently. Very little room for advancement with no appreciation from the guys making the real money while staying clean and making the tech's lives hell (the salesmen). "Sure, Mr. Rosenberg, if you buy this two million dollar yacht, our guys will have it ready to go in two days for you! No problem!" Then the hell begins. Psychopathic moron managers start screaming and the sh%t show begins. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Pros

Most folks are friendly. Work schedules are the norm.

Cons

Company is growing & incredibly profitable. Financials are public check them out. However, this company just laid off tons of folks. No raises or acknowledgement from managers during time there. If you aren't an executive you don't count. Executives go on company paid trips & are highly compensated, lower level employees get a whopping $100 Christmas bonus. Does that sound right for a BILLION dollar company?

Lack of Direction, Confusing Incentives

Pros

MarineMax is a company with many different locations, and if you like being in the boating atmosphere, then MarineMax is the place for you. PTO for full time employees, and minimal 401K matching. The company did seem like it was making improvements to its CRM software, which is good.

Cons

Due to there being so many different branches across the US, there is a lack of direction and lack of consistency among the dealerships. The branch managers generally have the final say, and there really is not room to grow. If you are a good salesman, you will make a decent living, but it really depends on where your dealership is located. The incentive plans that MarineMax sends out are generally confusing, and there seems to be a lack of transparency. Working weekends is a must if you want to make any money. Lead stealing happens very, very frequently so you have to watch your back on every deal.
