      dissatisfied corporate buyout

      Pros

      I really enjoyed being able to help the hard working people of my community with obtaining a loan when they needed it and could not turn any where else for help.

      Cons

      The amount of logs, tracking and other admin duties took away from time that could have been used to generate more business for the office. The micro-managing from upper management was unsettling despite being a branch that met and exceeded goals. Managers and staff were under-paid based on industry standard and averages.

      Hands down...worst company I have ever worked for!

      Pros

      I really enjoyed working for a great company such as Mariner Finance where I built long-lasting relationships with both customers and fellow employees....said no one ever!

      Cons

      Awful experience for the time that I worked for this company! 29.99% interest rate to customer which made it difficult to be competitive in the market Lofty lending goals for you to meet in order to receive a bonus to compensate for the below average pay you received. Terrible management at the branch level Driving our personal vehicle to delinquent customer's homes and workplaces in order to collect payments

      Great place to work in consumer finance

      Pros

      Competitive pay Excellent bonus potential Excellent opportunity for advancement Growing company Freedom to manage your own branch Great management team, who will go out of their way to help you The company offers lending programs and promotions that many other finance companies no longer offer (mortgage, retail) I came here from another finance company, where for 4 years there had been nothing but downsizing and layoffs. It's great to be working for a company that is going in the other direction: hiring people and actually opening branches at a fairly rapid pace.

      Cons

      Not really any I can think of, as overall I am very happy here. Branch Managers and above are eligible for (large) semi-annual bonuses, which non-managers aren't eligible for. Company does a decent job of incentivizing non-managers with periodic monthly incentives, which are based off of overall branch performance in certain categories. Company could probably do a better job of incentivizing non-managers with more individualized bonuses/incentives.
