      Markel is growing organization that isn't afraid to change. Markel has a unique culture where associates are encouraged to challenge management and think long-term.

      Cons

      Because Markel is a growing and changing organization, there is not always a clear cut career path.

      Pros

      Good medical benefits, 401k. Fresh fruit provided along with lits of coffee. Good location, close to eateries and shopping.

      Cons

      Management plays favorites. HR sides with management if complaints are made. Lots of backstabbing, two-faced managers. Long term employees used for their hard work and knowledge but not rewarded. Promotions are few unless you are management. Bonus plan is unfair and not consistent across the units. Moral is very low. Company only looking to make money. Computer systems are very old. If you like to be micromanaged then this is the place for you.
