      Average benefits. Free Coffee. Employee Team Building Events; Nice Clean modern offices

      Cons

      Emphasis on millenials. Train and promote cookie cutter underwriters fresh out of college; nepotism and favoritism; best qualified or hardest worker doesn't get the promotion. Doesn't use existing talent base. Loses too many hard working dedicated associates due to the favoritism. Former interns get opportunities and pay raises when they are lacking basic insurance knowledge.

      There are more managers than needed. If a manager is in good standing with the big wigs, then the manager can do whatever. There is no compassion. The Markel Style is a myth. The operations department is over staffed. Metrics determine your fate. If you are robotic, without care or concern for your fellow human, then you will love Markel.
