Hybrid schedule- wfh 2 days a week.

Cons

Markel is a great company but there are bad teams. Outdated systems, excessive workload, blatant favoritism among management. Small teams are consistently stretched to capacity with little recognition or appreciation. Difficult to post out to pursue other internal opportunities. Wish I’d been on a different team.

The people and culture are spot-on. Makes you feel at home.

Cons

Staffing was always an issue. Salary is lower than the market because they always said the bonuses made up for it. But the bonus is never guaranteed and puts everyone on the edge of their seat hoping they will get one, or a decent one at that.

Amazing company in all honesty. Limited offices which in turn limits flexibility. Anti-remote company. Good culture. Good work life balance. Competent management. Multiple restructures in the last 3 years. Not as innovative as other competitors. Pay and advancement was a concern of mine.

Cons

Pay is well below competitors. Lack of national offices. Old school. Lack of communication with management.
