Pros

I am new to the organization about a month in and I have worked at a well known competitor for 7 years and never felt like a valued employee the way Markel cares and welcomes their employees. They are up to date with their system and resources and the team is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Higher ups care about their employees as individuals. I am extremely happy with my my transition to Markel and I see myself retiring. They have flexible work hours and a great bonus structure.

Pros

Welcoming culture, great co-workers with great attitudes; They work hard and there's lots of great insurance talent; Well-run core business with strong financial potential. Open to new ideas. Lots of good changes are underway.

Cons

Salary/bonus for many roles don't match market (was content to accept lower offer, but afraid of keeping up); IT resources and some other business units are frustratingly behind the times. Many big changes are needed.
