Pros

Great entry level position for engineering majors fresh out of school. You learn a lot about MATLAB/Simulink in this role. Also gain experience with debugging issues and working with customers. Most of your co-workers in Engineering Development Group are also fresh out of college, so there is a strong sense of camaraderie and teamwork, as well as opportunities for socialization and forming friendships. Also, the salary and benefits are quite good (for an entry-level position).

Cons

Some (not all) of the Managers tend to get on your case about trivial matters. Also, the management style in the Engineering Development Group (EDG) is very autocratic. Thankfully, this is not true about the company as a whole, just the EDG Department specifically. While the salary/benefits are good by entry-level standards, they are not so great for people with years of work experience.

Pros

Strong team-building and focus on developing great products/solutions for customers. Nice workplace and intelligent coworkers make this a fun place to work. Private company in charge of own destiny (not shareholder driven)

Cons

Company heavily focuses on internal communications, which is positive, but sometimes leads to missed opportunities to listen to customers. Tendency to take too long to make decisions. Strange career development path in many areas of company. Come in at high salary level otherwise you're stuck.

Pros

You have the chance to work with very smart people. High impact in terms of industry range. Great facilities and work conditions.

Cons

No industry competitors - because there is partially no competitors higher management have no reason to make any house cleaning, be more efficient or work towards leaning workflows. With some exceptions mid-management is poor. It's not about your management skills is about how long are you in the company. That makes a huge difference in terms of getting the best resources, review and support. Very conservative in what regards changes. Very process oriented and slow moving - when something new is to be proposed with the objective of improving quality of work, it has to be reviewed so intensively that most people just give up and don't bother anymore. I think too many great ideas not even come to the surface because of people not believing it will ever happen. Unclear review criteria. Hard to be promoted or get decent salaries increases.
