Pros

Benefits are outstanding. Free breakfast, subsidized on-site gym, summer weekends at Mt. Washington, NH, winter cruises to Cozumel, Mexico. Facility is nice. Conference rooms are comfortable Almost everyone has an office; everyone has a flat-panel 17 inch monitor. On-site cafeteria is cheap and food is good. Free parties ("Tuesdays") with food and liquor about once-a-month. Pay is decent (but not great) and bonuses are OK.

Cons

Extremely bad management. The middle managers are the most inept group of people you could have the misfortune to meet. Engineers who can't write code and can't ever get a project finished are the ones promoted. The internal processes, such as the build system, are a buggy nightmare. The templates for writing internal documents, including performance reviews and software specs were all designed by people who have no idea of how document templates work. The performance review cycle is ridiculously elaborate and rewards inaction and ineptness.

Pros

lots of products to learn. Talented engineers at your service. Friendly interaction between teams. Learning from the best at the best in each industry... Individuals care. Culture and environment used to be great... No more idea zones and places to do creative thinking as a group.

Cons

Work from home policy is horrendous. 3 days a year? That's ridiculous. No reason given, just want to have control. Trust your employees.. Lack of advancement. Sr Management have their pets and they see these individuals through the ranks. Promotions are rare, but not for your pet. Whatever you want is what they say. Layoffs are termed "Job eliminations"... Call a spade a spade.... Wake up and give more opportunity to these talented individuals. I see when the economy picks up, you will certainly be sorry for losing some terrific people to other companies.

Pros

it's a good software company to work with. It's products, namely Matlab and Simulink, hold the leading position in the industry.

Cons

In this economic downturn, more and more I feel disappointed of the company's handling of the layoffs it has been carrying out. It's secretive at the best, very sneaky. Employees often get the news of who gets let go by the word of mouth. The company basically refuses to admit any layoff.
