Pros

- Stable company - Products are revered - Offices for most employees

Cons

- There is *no* reason or incentive to perform well. Completed that project well ahead of time? Took on tasks you didn't need to? Went above and beyond what you were required to do? Good for you. Pat yourself on the back, because it's all you're gonna get. - Promotions and growth are a joke. Try and get in writing what specific tasks/skills you need to accomplish to get promoted. You probably won't even get a verbal response. This, at a company that believes in setting SMART (Specific,Measurable,Achievable,Realistic,Time-bound) objectives. Ha!

Pros

Wicked smart people Stable Personal offices, with good equipment Nice campus, good expected company growth. Ability to weather tough economic storms. Advanced use of programming languages to solve difficult problems Good atmosphere Flexible with core hours Great coworkers, some of the brightest around, and very polite/respectful.

Cons

To ensure quality, getting code into the final product is a long and painful process. This leads to great, quality, low-bug products, but slows down programmers. It's a necessary pain for the end result, just be aware that slow downs in development exist and can't be avoided. Telecommuting policy is lagging behind where modern software companies tend to be.
