Pros

Stable company; everyone has an office. Health benefits are good. Free beverages, fruit and cookies on Friday. People are very pleasant. Salaries are average. Jack is a positive leader and has created a strong and technically superior product.

Cons

Polices and processes are inflexible and plentiful. Many processes are not posted and people get blind-sided by peers or managers in reviews by these unwritten rules. HR Review process is very old-school and cumbersome, and focused on what you do wrong. Unlike all modern companies - there is no option to work from home (allowed a maximum of 3 days a year).

Pros

This is an amazing company that has a lot of very smart people. The products are focused towards engineers and scientists, and I cannot think of too many industries where the impact of these products is not felt.. One thing that really impressed me after joining is the wide variety of ways the company invests in its employees. Training is available for free to employees not only for professional development, but for personal development as well including access to personal finance advisers! The results of the great company culture are very visible because I can honestly say that this is the first company in my 15 year career where I have met so many people who have been here for so long.( 15, 20, 25 years). Leadership is very supportive. I find the culture here very refreshing after spending time in development and consulting in other companies. Great bonus packages, company picnics, not to mention flying the entire company worldwide to new locations for sales kickoffs!

Cons

One of the drawbacks of being in a great company is that there are plenty of people who have been here very long and will always be more experienced than you. You can move laterally and learn new skills and move from one group to another, but moving up may take time. Salary is in the market range, but can be considered lower than similar sized companies. This is not an issue for me because I think I have grown enough to recognize the benefits of the whole package than just the salary.
