Pros

Group of very smart people to work with and people are encouraged to speak out if they see something that should be fixed The secondary benefits are great and the drive to make sure people volunteer their time is fantastic. All kinds of great training are provided in house. Process improvements are seen as important

Cons

It takes a long time to have people value your opinion as you are still seen as new after 2 years. There is no real career growth, the base salary is low and the raises are close to inflation correction. There is no real support for obtaining certifications after training. Because people have been here for years, the development of a "MathWorks" way sometimes blocks real change/improvements Management in some areas of the company are not helping their teams grow and improve in the right way. Leadership lives mostly at the top layers

Not a company for everyone

Pros

Stable company. Great location and facilities.

Cons

Some groups are poorly managed. Significant number of employees, including some managers, appear to have grown up in a culture where speaking up your mind is perceived as a sign of disrespect, even if it is done constructively. If you do not mind being micro-managed and follow strict orders, this is the company for you. If you get stuck in badly managed team, it is nearly impossible to move to another team. The pay is on the lower end of the spectrum.

Pros

Great product, good work life balance, pretty decent salaries, all thanks to the managers returned from USA who brought some culture/ethics with them.

Cons

All the supporting departments to R&D are inefficient at the best. It seems like the Admin, IT, HR, Finance all are cutting the cost wherever it is possible to show so their efficiency to their bosses on the side of USA without conveying them how people hate the changes their acts bring in. Examples: Till date there is no arrangement of a decent pantry inside office. Only one vendor to distribute poor quality food for a pretty big price tag. Office infrastructure is getting worse every next day with very little focus on fixing it. All the drinks which employee likes and consume disappear from the cafeteria. Entire HR seems to be run by only one person with little to no employee engagement. I can bet HR has no idea what employees want, in my couple of years of time in office I have never seen HR engaging any of the employees. It is pathetic. Parental insurance is available but you pay 10K for it. Also insurance is only 3 lacks.
