Pros

Get to work on a project from end-to-end Book clubs to enhance your skills Indoor games and Gym Cab service

Cons

Anything and everything is slow at MathWorks. An example is two of the pros mentioned above, Gym and Cab Service are provided in 2017, the 9th year since MathWorks was established in India. Hire Postgraduates and above for Technical Support. Let them rot in technical support for 1.5-2 years, thereby ruining their career prospects. Bad food for lunch, started in 2017 as well. Projects progress at slow pace because of reviews with multiple layers of management. No real interaction between project owner and end-users. Two end releases of MATLAB per year causing too much pressure for quantity over quality. No work from home. HR folks do not bother about employee needs in India. If there is a need for something, they check if it is provided in the US office to decide if we have to provide it here. The benefits differ a lot between the US ofc and India ofc.

Pros

+ Great work life balance + Great company with great core values and culture + Respectful and collaborative environment + Personal office space for all + As you spend more time in the company, your tenure is personally valued and appreciated, so do your benefits grow + Great company to stay for a long period of time and retire from + Fair review process with self evaluation and peer evaluations along with your manager's evaluation. Can't get better. Your ratings translate fairly to salary increments. + Perks: Company summer outing to the best mountain resorts in NH for 2 nights, cookies, free treats, Wednesday breakfasts, quarterly bonus, unlimited sick time, 8 hours social work time, 3 weeks vacation, personal office room, great 401k and health benefits, 40 hours trainings a year, awesome gym with many group classes etc. I joined MathWorks straight from college upon graduation with Masters and it was my best decision. This company groomed and prepared me for work life in the initial 2 years of my job as an ASE in EDG. This program allows you to try out different roles and responsibilities like technical assistance to customers, taking up QE project, Software development projects, technical marketing projects, EDG team leadership, EDG process improvement, interviewing new candidates, knowledge sharing presentations, mentoring new hires etc. These are the things I got to do over my 2 years span in EDG which has helped me immensely in my current role as a Software Developer. You feel valued and appreciated in this company for your contributions viz. the company founder and owner, Jack personally calls to congratulate you on your 5th year anniversary at the company! :)

Cons

- Very process oriented company; it might fluster one who is not used to of the detailed analysis, documentation and reviews before implementation. Would be much appreciated by research oriented individuals. - Only 3 days work from home and more on request. Works for me as the company has worked hard to provide us the best environments to work in with personal office spaces with great food and other services. - Salary might be a tad bit low than some other contemporaries.
