Pros

Supportive and smart colleagues. Interesting and meaningful work. Incredibly flexible remote work policy.

Cons

Out of touch and reactive leadership. Unsustainable workloads (especially after multiple rounds of RIFs) leading to frequent burnout. Chaotic internal dynamics after restructuring business units in 2025. Uncertain federal work pipeline.

Pros

If you want to work in consulting for a company that feels like it genuinely has the public interest at heart, Mathematica is a good option. Being employee owned also makes a bit more of a community.

Cons

It's very easy to get stuck into one project or expertise area and can be very difficult to move. I understand this is similar in a lot of consulting work. They are constantly re-organizing the business structure so it's very confusing to understand the promotion paths.
