Pros

Benefits and perks are amazing. No premiums on insurance. Open vacation policy. Flexibility to work from home. Happy hours every week. Fully stocked pantry and refrigerator. The people you work with are very friendly. There are over 100 people in the Boston office spread over two floors, so I do not have regular contact with all employees. I have always felt very welcomed by almost everyone in the office and, after being here for a while, still feel welcome and appreciated. I was warned that all the work you do is not recognized, so I should be okay with that, but I have found that I have constant recognition of the work that I do. This recognition is done in private, but I didn't take this job to be publicly acknowledged. I feel that there is a lot of room to grow professionally here. My supervisor is great in terms of mentorship and working with me to continue on a defined career path. The company also offers a mentorship program to work with people in other disciplines to further your knowledge of other parts of the company.

Cons

The culture here can be a little intense. There is definitely a culture of working longer hours than at other companies. I have found that I am able to work an 8-9 hour day and go home and relax and my work does not suffer, but there are others who feel the need to work much longer than that. It is a culture that is easy to get swept up in, but I have not received any backlash from the schedule that I keep.

Thank you for your note. The problem we're trying to solve is hard and as we make strides each week and each month, we're having a meaningful impact on people. That's what gets me up every day, knowing that we're giving our best to make the world a bit better. So, yes, Maxwell can be a bit intense at times. But no big problem worth solving can ultimately be overcome without focus, hard work, some play {obviously required} and a healthy dose of intensity. I appreciate the advice on helping to paint a clearer picture. We've definitely made a lot of progress on this through the course of the year. By all objective measures, Maxwell is a very transparent organization and I make it a priority to communicate both where we're succeeding and where we need to improve. That said, I know we can be better and we'll work on that. Veer

Pros

How much time do I have? First of all, Maxwell is a benefits-centric organization. The benefits are awesome. 100% health, dental and vision insurance coverage, flexible PTO, fully-stocked kitchen, team dinners out, free massages every monday, off-site company retreats, free T pass, gym membership reimbursement...and, of course, the full Maxwell Health platform, with every awesome resource that entails. Most of our employees were once interns at Maxwell Health. We're growing really fast, and hiring like crazy, but we really invest in the people we hire. The office is right in downtown Boston, with an open layout and a view of Boston Common. Access to public transportation is fantastic. This place is super special. We have a huge mission, a killer strategy, and a revolutionary product that is truly the first of its kind, and we all know it. My coworkers have quickly turned into some of my closest friends. We work really hard, but we play hard too. We have cocktail hours in the office, and we go out as a group at least once a weekend. This is such a fun place to work. Everyone is very smart, very hard working, and very committed to Maxwell's mission. That's a really special combination.

Cons

We're growing really, really fast, which means work-life balance can be tough. This is a very fast-paced environment. I work late hours some nights, but I'm absolutely doing what I love, and I know I can ask for help from any of my coworkers whenever I need it, and unlimited vacation days so I can recharge when I need to. I also know that our management team recognizes and appreciates our commitment and hard work, and that they'll hire people if we can't handle the workload.

Pros

Maxwell has a vision unlike an other tech company in the benefits space. The team that is striding to make that vision a reality is a family of energetic and intelligent people that all share the common goal of fixing the broken healthcare system. Under the leadership of Veer, the Maxwell team has all the tools it needs to have a successful 2016. If your looking for a company that is transparent, Maxwell is for you. The company invests a lot of time in ensuring it's employees understand the company objectives. There are bi-annual retreats that allow for collaboration across teams and time to reflect on the previous quarter. The benefits offered are extremely generous such as a fully stocked kitchen, benefits fully covered, transit reimbursement and gym reimbursement. The location is great since it's located a block from the park street t-stop. It should be interesting to see what Maxwell has in store for the benefits world in 2016.

Cons

- The hours can be demanding at times.
