Pros

Work life balance and flexibility is from the top down and makes it fairly easy to work here and have a family. Cultural recognition is great here and the vacation time is very generous. Starting salaries are competitive.

Cons

Not a lot of career development or advancement. Comradeship is low.

Pros

I've been here just 5 months now and came from a Fortune 500 - the difference in the way employees are treated, supported and recognized is amazing. May Institute goes out of its way to ensure employees are treated with respect and dignity. I feel lucky to have been selected to join this team. Beside the culture described above, May also has progressive benefits - including a new tuition forgiveness program, 403B with a company match (not too many organizations doing that anymore!), as well as traditional medical, dental, etc. I also just received a birthday card and present from May Institute and was surprised to learn all employees get this on their birthday - as well as a PAID Birthday Holiday to use in the month of your birth!! Made me feel great!! :)

Cons

We are a non-profit - doing great work, but that leaves the compensation a bit on the lighter side in a competitive market. For me - the difference in the quality of life I now have, and the added benefit of supporting the direct care staff make up for any gap in this area.
