On the other hand, the fact that getting hired by McDonald's is so easy works against it. Most of the employees and even some of the managers are apathetic and contribute only the bare minimum. I found that no matter how much slack I tried to pick up from others, it was never enough to keep things running smoothly. There is practically no morale or work ethic. Customers are generally upset by the lack of service.
The store is dirty, and nobody seems to notice or try to change this. Much of the equipment is old and works poorly.
Pay is the legal minimum across the board. Raises are minuscule to nonexistent.
Opportunities for advancement are there, but the pay increase associated is so small that a different entry level job will often pay more than a management position at McDonald's.
