Pros

A privately-held company anxious to avoid press--even positive press--McMaster-Carr is devoted to work-life balance and deeply engaged in the community. As a corporate citizen, McMaster-Carr is truly exemplary and from that perspective would recommend this employer unreservedly. And the perks for employees are superb, including medical benefit vesting on day one.

Cons

McMaster-Carr is a very agile organization in which yesterday's rules are almost never carved in stone. The downside to that is because of this relentless devotion to improvement, it can be extremely challenging to learn the ropes for someone new.
