Pros

Great work hours Great pay No other company in the world can touch the benefits Free college tuition Free college tuition for any of your children

Cons

If you are not used to a company that strives for perfection then McMaster-Carr is not for you. They are highly analytical and metric based. Everything is tracked. But then again why would you care? It make the company profitable and everyone (and I mean everyone) got 5 MONTHS salary as a bonus last year in addition to the 25% that you get for deferred profit sharing. Do the math.

Good Benefits and Salary, that's really about it

Pros

Excellent benefits, especially end of the year bonus. unlike other comments i've read here, management has always worked with me when i had to attend a school function for my kids or something of the sort.

Cons

the nature of the business is a bit dry. because there is no room for advancement, you do not enjoy the fruit of your labor. there is no sense of contribution or accomplishment associated with the job. i actually always get "meets expectations" and am told i am a top performer, but i get absolutely no satisfaction from the job. i can't even say "the job sucks, but i work with great people", as i've been here a couple of years and have no relationships as i am stuck at my desk on the phone the entire time i'm there.

Pros

Benefit pkg, bonuses & profit sharing, and salaries are all exceptional. Coworkers are all very nice and care about the community and others. Community Service is the thing to do for employees. Have a chef in the onsite cafeteria. Some managers (non-md) are wonderful people to work under.

Cons

If you aren't in the mgmt development program it is very hard to be promoted. People who know less than you and just graduated will be put in mgmt positions over workers who are more qualified.
