Largely Misunderstood

Pros

Work-life balance, pay and benefits. The company's total benefit package would rank among the best in the US if more about this privately held company were made public. Its a stable business with more than 100 years of slow, steady sustained growth.

Cons

It's a place for the tortoise, not the hare. Past decades of being obsessed with risk aversion and secrecy still constrain the company like an invisible hand. Current leadership is moving the company in a better direction, but there's still a bias towards resting on company laurels rather than pursue new and ambitious things. It's not a very invigorating approach to winning the race as an employee.

Pros

Great benefits, the co-workers are really nice, cafeteria is ok. Recently renovated offices. Won't let you take the work home which is nice.

Cons

Do not trust any of the management trainees or whatever they are called. They will target you and try and get you fired. This place is nothing like what they tell you in an interview. There is NO career growth unless you're in the management trainee program (not an opt in program based on performance, they only hire "top tier" kids straight out of college into it). Hostile working environment.
