Mechanics Bank is a classic example of a good old boys club. People are in management and senior leadership and shouldn’t be. People are “Directors” or “Managers” but can’t even manage their own lives. It’s quite embarrassing when a manager has no sense of self awareness and gets angry in the middle of their cubicle while on a call with a vendor’s customer support department and decides to throw their phone and yell expletives. A grown adult in the middle of an office. It’s quite asinine. I watched this company create positions out of thin air for people they like or outsiders that had a connection on the inside. And of course, the teacher’s pet employees get all the recognition and promotions. Information Security department is severely underpaid and mistreated. It’s a super toxic environment. The turnaround is high and there’s no room for growth. Even other departments experience high turnaround, especially Retail Banking. Expect to be overworked cause the teams are small while the organization and infrastructure is large. A lot of employees have been here their whole adult lives. With that, they brought their old school mentalities with it.
