Pros

On most Med-Surg there is only a 1 on call shift requirement per six weeks and only every third weekend required.

Cons

Staffing has not been great for over a year. Often working one or two nurses short. Frequently extra units are opened in the main parts of the hospital that were closed when the patient tower was opened. These units take from the tower units to staff. Many CNA's are unpleasant to work with and often missing from their assigned areas.

Pros

Big organization, many places to work from hospital setting to outpatient clinics within the company.

Cons

Managers of different departments don't get along, no good communication between the depts.Calverton office is chaoatic.Managers are untrained and most are new in their jobs. Most of them don't have any leadership skills to lead the field staff.Lots of bullying takes place among the fieldstaff clinicians that the managers don't know how to handle the situation. Some of the field staff are not behaving as proffessionals and the patients openly speak about these unprofessional clinicians. Medstar is all about making money and patients are their BANKS.
