Pros

The ER veterinarians are excellent in emergency medicine

Cons

MedVet is the epitome of greed and capitalism. They buy up clinics and make promises and then the true colors of MedVet's tactics come into full play. Be sure to conform to the stepford employee mentality cause they think all are disposable when you don't, but with a big smile, tell you differently.

I'm not sure of your location. And I'm still relatively new so I can't speak to what happened in the past. But I can share from personal experiences that in the 3 acquisitions we've done this year, we have been thoughtful about the transition. MedVet is pretty small compared to organizations that are truly corporate (VCA, Blue Pearl). We, unlike others, are 80% owned by our vets, not some private equity firm or a big corporation. When we join with a new hospital, we do a person by person analysis to make sure we are being sensitive to financial situations and truly work to learn about the other organization -- we don't just impose our operational systems, although some things (like health insurance and payroll) do have to change. I hope you shared your concerns -- otherwise, we can't dig in to some of those issues to find out what's going on and what the perceptions are.

Pros

Fair pay if you ask for it/ has potential to be a great company to work for

Cons

TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT, corporate leaders are so disconnected individual hospitals that are struggling are NOT cared about and the people they put in charge to run the place are USELESS

I appreciate you providing feedback. I hope you also shared this feedback on the recent Employee Experience Survey. Please reach out if you want to share more details with me or your Regional Medical Director in Cincinnati. I know we have a new Medical Director starting and also would encourage you to talk to her. And just a note that I'm not going to quit. I'm going to stay and work on improving the Employee Experience.

Good but does needs some work

Pros

The benefits package is something that everyone loves, Health insurance, PTO, pet benefits just to name a few. The work experience is extraordinary and being able to use the skills that you have been taught. The Doctors are excellent at their jobs and the willingness of some Doctors to teach what they know to the RVT's and Animal Aides.

Cons

We are understaffed and can't seem to get and KEEP good people. Part of the reason for lack of keeping people is the pay isn't competitive to keep them in the ER or nursing department compared to other positions where you don't need a degree. Trying to get PTO and getting a response back from your manager with questions is like pulling teeth sometimes. PTO scheduling needs some work, there were some cases where two people in the same shift would both have the same whole week off, but it seems that only one person per shift can have one day off. Some of the staff can have off-putting attitudes until you "prove yourself" to them which can be taken as annoyance and lack of acknowledgment to the new employee.

I appreciate your review. PTO is something that we are looking at this year, but it sounds like the bigger problem you are facing is being able to take the time off you have. I know we have staffing challenges and our broader industry. However, it's also really important, typically for those of you in clinical settings, to make sure you have time to refresh and recharge. I'm not sure what hospital you work at, but please make sure you are raising or concerns to your hospital director and/or your HR partner. Additionally, within the next few weeks we will be launching our first quarterly employee survey. It is being run by an outside survey research firm, and no one at MedVet, including me, will be able to tell who said what or even who responded. I encourage your candid feedback. Thanks!
