Cons
The pay is garbage, especially given the New York City cost of living. Managers are nitpicky. The software development culture is rigid, aggressively homogenous, and even the smallest opportunities for creativity are actively squashed. Bonuses, raises, and promotions are not proportional to effort. "Did you do absolutely nothing this quarter? We're docking you $500 bonus pay. Did you put in 250% more effort than your peers? Great, here's any extra 1/3 of a single paycheck." Makes perfect sense. Turnover is atrocious. Key people leave on a bi-weekly basis. Any engineer with any talent or ambition gets poached or leaves.
