I left after a few weeks. If you enjoy work/life balance, it does NOT exist here.
Pros
They offered a decent salary, work from home stipend, flex hours and the ability to work remotely on occasion, discounts for local fitness centers, office space in Baltimore that has nice views, and the occasional free food. The designers/my peers were fantastic.
Cons
Keep in mind I was a brand new full-time employee coming onto this team with 7 years of experience … The Creative Services manager instated a 12hr flex coverage schedule within my first month, which happened to be right before the annual convention, and in addition to that coverage, she also required everyone to tell her what their off-hours schedules were like so she could have 24/7 coverage availability in case someone needed to hop online. There was an immense amount of operational inefficiencies within their workflows and inequity between team member benefits i.e. the Senior Multimedia Designer was allowed to work remotely full time even though the rest of the team was required to come into the office … The Creative Services manager created a concrete schedule that she distributed to the whole team reinforcing that the full-time salaried workers were going to be needed for 24/7 coverage without overtime compensation or PTO equivalents for an entirety of 6 weeks with the potential of this happening again a month later for the next event and so on throughout the year. I went to HR about this, and they listened BUT they backed up the Creative Services manager stating “if the business requires the work completed then, yes, you need to complete the work even if it's during your off hours” ... mind you this was only if you’re not hospitalized. I was told by Creative Services and HR that it would be considered a “performance issue” if I did not show up off hours/outside my slotted time within the 12hr coverage to complete a project even if I stated I would NOT be available due to X/Y/Z happening in my personal life. The Creative Services manager wasn't in-person during my first week of work, because she lost a pet over the weekend, but still required me to come into the office every day since I was a new employee even though the position was sold to me as a HYRBID/2 days in the office position … I wasn't refunded for $200 in parking fees but I was encouraged to go into the office the first 2 weeks even though it was a hybrid position … Parking under the building was $25/day, after 4 days of being required to be in person (mind you it was a hybrid position and my manager wasn't there) I had already spent $100. They sent me to 4 different people in HR and no one could tell me succinctly how to get the parking refunded for my first month and in-person interview. They have a parking program but you have to attribute $1 of your salary to gain $100 OF PARKING COVERAGE PER MONTH. New employees gain this parking debit card after receiving your first paycheck, which is 3 weeks into the month but the preloaded $100 parking fee debit card was not a reimbursement method for a new employee so you’d spend hundreds of dollars for parking upfront without reimbursement.
