Pros

The work is quite easy. Coworkers overall seem very nice. Not micromanaged while working.

Cons

MOST of management has no idea what's going on. There's a guy who was fired then rehired. He's in a more "lead" position. Orders pizza to the back room and eats it and hides it. Vapes in the cooler whenever he wants. This is who management wanted back. He's been at the heart of a number of employee problems over the months. There is one employee who consistently berates and yells at fellow co workers because she's "stressed" She should have been fired years ago but is in the "clique" with some management. Don't get sick, they truly don't care. Even if in ER with Dr note. You essentially have to do many of the department lead things when they have off. No additional pay. If you are sick, you still pick peoples orders which seems very unsafe for the customer. Had an employee who had surgery recently. They were vomiting and not recovering well. They called off. Management called back saying they would be fired if they didn't show up. They were vomiting amongst other things.

Pros

The company allows me to have SOME creative freedom when it comes to cake decorating. I enjoy most my coworkers. My customers keep coming back cause I do what needs to be done.

Cons

Unfortunately getting the job done is quite difficult. My department went from a easy steady pace to unbelievably difficult within a 4 year span. We have no staff. Combining deli and bakery was a terrible idea. We went from being fully staffed to working with 2 to 3 workers a day. I'm the only ft decorator with a pt decorator who only works 4 hrs a day. I can't do the load, fill the floor and very large cake case, cake orders, and mass produce cake product with no help. I'm mentally exhausted along with most of the employees at meijer. Your ideas are poorly executed. Unachievable work demands I call it. What ever happened to "work smart not hard"? Also out sdic makes it quite clear they don't like a lot of us veteran employees. I don't feel my job is safe ever. I've had to split my off days up just because I'm full time. I now plan my life around meijer. That's not family oriented. It's all about family at meijer...right? It's very very sad. I don't think Fred would be pleased to see whats become of his company.
