      Pros

      Flexible schedules, good people, decent pay, and opportunity to grow. You are working at a grocery store, so picking up items after work is really easy. There is a 10% discount and if you apply for a Meijer Credit, once a month you can save an additional 15% off general merchandise. It really comes in handy, trust me.

      Cons

      It's a retail job, so kiss those holidays goodbye, because those are the busiest times. The customers can get to you at times. Sometimes things can get very redundant. Even dealing with customer problems becomes tedious, because it's the same stuff over and over again.

      Pros

      1. Part-time employees receive health care benefits. It might not be the best benefit package, but many places don't offer any benefits to part-time employees. 2. Raises are guaranteed by contract. When I worked in fast food, no one ever got a raise, no matter how hard they tried to excel at the job. 3. Employee discount. I get 10% off all general merchandise: clothes and "toys." This comes in handy when you need a new TV or the dog destroys all your underwear. They give you an extra 30%-off coupon to buy pants for work, and don't look too close if you use it to buy stuff for a friend. During the week before Christmas, the standard employee discount is extended to all store-brand items, not just gen. merchandise.

      Cons

      Hard work might be appreciated, but it is not rewarded. Management will lie about getting a customer complaint if they think you're not being perfectly polite. Any performance review will find you at fault for something. cashiers are on a timer, and you will get written up for taking too long if a customer needs extra attention. You will receive a bad performance review if you don't spend enough time being friendly to the customer. the health care benefits offered to part-time employees only covers the employee. It can't be used to give coverage to any dependents. For that, you need to be a full-time employee, and the only way to do that is to get 36 hours per week for 13 weeks. You can bet your bippy that no one is allowed to get that many hours.

      Pros

      meijer is a great place to work as far as the schedule,a safe feeling place since its union,(job security),and it doesn't pay too bad.Nearly all the employees are easy to get along and friendly,most of the managers are ok,too.

      Cons

      the downsides are being stuck on night shift consistently because of seniority(2 cutters over top of me),being the one stuck always cleaning up the backroom at night,which is a pain in the ass and gets old quick,people that get promoted just because an opening is there instead of truly earning it,(1 major downside of the union),and the other half of the managers that aren't nice and lie to your face to save their own asses;(i can think of at least 3 offhand.)
