Pros

Melaleuca is a company who I feel wants to see you achieve your goals. I have worked at Melaleuca for a little more than 8 years and have seen my career grow. They have given me the resources to succeed and have been able to develop a great maintenance team. The company also provides excellent benefits such as: Company Picnic, Company Christmas Parties, 401K match, Longevity bonuses, fantastic health insurance, Health incentives, star performer, and the list goes on. I love the ground rules that Melaleuca has set out for employees to follow. The ground rules are to be: Honest, Open, Candid, Constructive, Own your own data, confidential, participate, Non-defensive, and Concise. I currently serve on the city council and have had great success using those principles in dealing with city workers and the community. The location is great and is a plus for those looking for a rural feel and who like the outdoors. The biggest pro to Melaleuca is they are debt free. Before building a building or making a big financial investment, the first question is what the ROI is and how will that fit into our financial plans. I love working for a company that doesn’t put our jobs at risk only to keep up with others in our industry or with something that “might” work. They calculate the risks/rewards very carefully before making those type of decision.

Cons

They are a frugal company and try to pass the savings on to our customers. By doing so, they expect a lot out of you. You might work 45-50 hours a week or more to get the expected tasks done. You also wear many hats. I think this could be considered a pro and con. The pro would be that you learn more and will use that knowledge in future positions within the company. The con is that sometimes it puts you out of your comfort zone and people don't like that. It will also take you away from your family at times. Being a frugal and methodical company, they don’t make decision as fast as some would like. This can frustrate some who work here. What I have found to curb this issue is to own your data and be honest. This usually will give you the best results. If you are not afraid to be open and honest than working here is the right fit. If that makes you uncomfortable, than this is probably not a company you should pursue.

Pros

I really like working at Melaleuca because of the variety of projects that I work on. Every day brings new projects and new challenges that require creative thinking and problem solving. I also get to work with all departments in the company and enjoy learning about all areas of the business. I know that Melaleuca values the opinions of its employees and on a regular basis seeks comments from them through employee opinion surveys. The comments are taken seriously and implemented whenever possible. The company benefits are the best I have ever experienced. I especially like the profit sharing program and the longevity bonus program. The working environment is clean and a good place to work. Overall, I have been treated fairly and I am satisfied with where I am at in my career.

Cons

Melaleuca expects that all employees will work hard and pull their part of the load. I think they have high expectations for their employees. They expect you to get results. At times the work can be stressful. Serving the customers is one of the highest priorities and so there are times when you will need to work a few more hours to make sure they are taken care of in a timely manner. In order to be successful at Melaleuca, you need to be a motivated, self-driven person.

Pros

I came to Melaleuca for a job and have stayed 20+ years because I found a purpose. I work with amazing people dedicated, passionate and committed to our company and our Mission Statement, Enhancing the lives of those we touch by helping people reach their goals. The Management Team asks for and expects feedback on how to improve processes and programs. They give credit where credit is due and always express their gratitude for hard work and dedication. In all the years I have worked here there has never been a lay off and I love the security I have knowing that as long as I come to work, work hard and take ownership, I will always have a job here. Melaleuca offers excellent benefits such as on site restaurant, day care facility, gym, health and dental insurance, great match on 401k, and longevity bonuses. Over the years I have had the opportunity to spend quality, one on one time with the company CEO both in and outside of work and have a great deal of respect for his commitment to Melaleuca, our community and myself and my coworkers. I am always given the opportunity to develop new skills and progress in my career with Melaleuca. It is truly the place to be.

Cons

If you don't enjoy small town living and want to keep to yourself rather than work as an integral part of a committed team, this may not be the place for you.
