Pros

Great people, great ratios, the job comes with a lot of flexibility. People stay here their whole careers. The LDRP model gives you a lot of skills. Great new grad program!

Cons

The pay is on the lower end for the area, slow seasons come with some canceled shifts.

Pros

I started with a genuinely supportive team and a manager who initially encouraged autonomy and open communication. The org is mission-driven which can be fulfilling for those passionate about non-profit healthcare. Some departments may still offer a healthier environment, and there were early efforts from direct managers to advocate for their teams. If you're in the right pocket of the org, you may have a positive experience. There are hybrid/remote opportunities, and an affordable medical plan.

Cons

Over time, the workplace culture became rigid and overly focused on performance metrics, leaving little room for professional trust or flexibility. Productivity was always emphasized over people or results, and people were strictly tracked. Higher-ups make dismissive and damaging comments on people's work, leaving it to be a highly scrutinized instead of a supportive work environment. Opportunities for growth are non-existent, and any desire to be promoted was often turned down, or supported but without any raises. Compensation was another concern; holidays were not paid and days before holidays we were often forced to take off, even if you didn't have enough PTO in the bank. You get punished for taking unpaid PTO outside of holidays, but it's impossible to accrue enough especially around the holidays. Despite many press ganey surveys and feedback channels, real change never seems to follow.

Thank you for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and detailed review of your experience at MemorialCare. We’re glad to hear that you found fulfillment in our mission-driven approach and experienced support, autonomy, and open communication from your initial team and manager. It’s also encouraging to know that you valued the hybrid/remote opportunities and affordable medical plan, as well as the dedication of managers who advocate for their teams. We sincerely appreciate your candid feedback regarding the challenges you faced, including concerns about workplace culture, communication, compensation, and opportunities for growth. We understand how a shift toward rigid performance metrics and a lack of flexibility can impact trust, morale, and the overall work environment. Your comments about the need for more meaningful recognition, support for professional development, and improvements in compensation and time-off policies are especially important to us. Thank you again for your honesty and for helping us identify areas where we can grow as an organization.
