Pros

If you want to feel similar compassion and passion when working with pediatric patients, the MCH is the place for you! Everyone loves and cares for their patients, from the custodial staff, PCAs, RNs, receptionists, MDs, SWs, etc. The comradery is evident b/c the team cares for one another and you know people have your back. It's a fun place to work too b/c the majority of the staff are funny and like to laugh (when appropriate) to lighten the mood of working in an acute medical setting. There are a lot of sharp, intelligent, and caring people here, many of whom have worked hard and have been committed to the organization for a long time!

Cons

There seems to be a significant lack of critical-thinking involved in administrators/management. LEAN projects are being implemented, but there's a lack of assessing whether or not it is actually efficient, creating "less-waste", and most importantly if it's beneficial to the patient/families. More work is being placed on RNs to be "coordinators of care" but it's actually making it worse for the patients b/c RNs are given more non-clinical tasks to manage which makes their clinical tasks harder to manage. Communication across disciplines is also TERRIBLE and that seems to be the culture here, but no one is trying to address effective solutions. Lastly, there are a few doctors who need to be confronted of their god-complex. No one should ever have to fear doctors, and some, have created a culture where they think they think it's okay to yell and intimidate people.

Pros

Friendly company culture; quick manager communication; quick house supervisor communication; team work, organized.

Cons

Company will be closing the location of one of its hospitals; therefore, many jobs are at stake. Cheats you out of salary wage by lowering hourly wage if came in early to work or lunch is taken before six hours. Company will pay you at day shift rate instead of the higher nightshift rate. No retention bonus for per diem workers for staying up to the hospital's closure. No bones at all for per diem.
