Pros

This honest review is long overdue, but since I will likely never return to MC since I am now with a higher-paying organization, I feel I can safely give my honest review to help ANYONE out there. Overall, I loved Memorial care, it was so hard leaving because up until I left Tele for GI lab, I absolutely loved MC. They have so many resources for the RN's, they always staff CNA's and the charge nurses and management on the floors are amazing. I absolutely loved our Tele culture but after having our second child I decided to try something non-bedside so I could come home and have energy for my family. Unfortunately, this was the biggest mistake during my career with Memorial Care. The amount of bullying I experienced working in GI lab at left me no choice but to leave and never look back. At the time I was there, all of us new hires at Gi lab had numerous issues with the charge nurse's microaggressive and toxic demeanor, and all the manager did is gaslight and blame it on her accent. There was never any accountability taken from the management; everything was your fault or what you could've done better. Aside from the highly toxic and political culture, I had a lot of safety concerns. She would withhold the schedule from us until the last minute until she changed it to her liking against* our manager. It got so bad we eventually had meetings with the manager every single week and nothing would change. It was so strange bc at the time, Gi lab was literally a four-bed unit, but it was so unorganized and chaotic. One minute you're admitting, the next youre recovering, the next youre intra op- just an utter mess. There was no true schedule, you were basically full-time under the guise of "part-time" so your benefits would be more expensive for you (the employee). It always felt so "cliquey" and political. I could go on and on with stories and stories from so many other coworkers who felt the same way I did (which at least gave me comfort that I wasn't the only one with these concerns). I had no choice but to leave because of how badly it was affecting my mental health. It was so hard to leave since up until then I absolutely loved Memorial Care. Although I am at a so-called "better" hospital now, I would 100% take my own family to Memorial care over my current hospital any day. The care there is just exceptional. Overall, the floors are good but if you are applying to a specialty unit be careful, ask around first!!

Cons

-certain specialty units have a rep for being highly toxic and political, always ask around before accepting a job -low pay compared to other hospitals

Thank you for sharing such a detailed and candid review. We are grateful for your kind words about the supportive culture in Telemetry, our resources for nurses, and the quality of care you experienced. At the same time, we take very seriously the concerns you raised about your experience in the GI Lab, including issues of workplace culture, communication, and scheduling. Bullying and toxic behavior are not acceptable, and feedback like yours helps us identify areas where improvement is needed. We are committed to fostering a respectful, safe, and supportive environment across all units, and leadership continues to review practices to ensure accountability and consistency. We also recognize the importance of fair compensation and remain focused on evaluating pay structures to stay competitive while supporting our staff. Your perspective is invaluable, and while we regret that your experience led you to leave, we appreciate your dedication during your time with MemorialCare. Thank you again for helping us improve.
