Pros

-Decent scheduling, management is very conscious of other conflicts, as long as you communicate with them. -Steady pay increases, and the benefits are among the best you can get for being a retail employee. -Plenty of opportunity to move up, if you don't mind relocating a few times. GM's can make 6-figures. -The company is solid, and has a good plan for growth. -Managers have a lot of product knowledge, and the store has a good "open-door" policy. Questions and concerns are always welcome. -It seems like you get a gift for every holiday, from Flag Day to Christmas. Gifts are useful and sturdy items, such as clothing, pizza cutters, mouse pads, collectibles.

Cons

-You have to purchase your vest/apron, tape measure, box cutter and holster, and they have to be merchandise sold at Menards, so you can't just bring a tape measure you already have at home. -I wouldn't want to do this full time; full-timers are stretched pretty thin, and management has to work crazy hours. -They expect you to think Menards is the greatest place on earth. -It's customer service. A lot of cranky "guests." -Terrible training, but as long as you can read the product's label faster than the customer can, you will be fine. -Bizarre discount program, where your purchases are automatically withdrawn from your paycheck. You can't get your discount if you pay with cash or credit.

A great part-time job

Pros

Casual dress code, consistent wage increases, exquisite training program and opportunities for advancement, excellent management team (at least at my store.)

Cons

Very low starting wage for part-timers. Below industry pay for full-timers, too. Full-time and management must be available ridiculous hours, but hey, it is retail. Not enough supervision (most people wouldn't complain about this, but I see the laziest and most incompetent people able to keep their job for far too long without correction.)

Pros

-Great place for someone to work without a college degree with a potential to earn a lot of money, over 100k if you hit the GM level.

Cons

-When you hit management, the work hours are long and horrible. -No work life balance -Most people who are in management are not college educated, meaning catty, immature twenty year old's, with management and people skills of a 16 year old pms-ing girl end up in management.
