Pros

The pay for the work that was required is quite high compared to similar companies. The extra $2.50 per hour on weekends is good incentive for weekend workers.

Cons

The only downfall was lack of training as far as merchandise goes. As a member of the front end team, I was very unprepared to answer questions regarding the location of products throughout the store.

Pros

Menards pays exceptionally well, especially for the cashiers, great job for high school or college students to work at and get some extra cash. They also send you gifts for every holiday, some are useful, others are not, it's the thought that counts. I enjoyed the relaxed dress code, and the managers were very flexible with hours.

Cons

In short, the company does not follow its own policies when it comes to guest services. When you try to follow guest service rules and it is met with a problem upper managment does whatever the guest wants therefore allowing their guest to walk all over them. Guests that are regular shoppers at the store know what they can get away with and they do it all the time.

Pros

The pay for management and the bonus packages are a big plus. The potential for promotion is very high especially if you have good mobility.

Cons

It is Retail through and through. It has all the good and bad parts about retail including the long 11 to 15 hour days. the leadership varies from store to store. Continuing education is strongly discouraged.
