its an easy summer job for college students to make money and work part time while they are taking classes.

Cons

not a very flexible work environment the scheduling can be a little hairy and the hours are not as consistent when there is a downturn on sales during the previous week.

I love my duties...who could not enjoy working with flowers and shrubs? Most of the Garden Center team got along well and everyone did their job. Management is generally flexible regarding time off. Everyone is laid back. Part timers can sign up for basic medical coverage after they have there 6 months.

Cons

Menards "turn and burn" inventory philosophy doesn't work that well regarding plants. Some of our merchandise did not "burn" it's way out the door. Beyond a short video when we got hired, we weren't given any information regarding the care of plants. This was odd as we were cross trained with every other dept in the store. I think we killed a lot of plants unnecessarily. The way they buy their merchandise for the store is weird. We couldn't get stuff we ran out of or customers requested because they only buy things they can get a good deal on or can buy in bulk.
