Pros

It has a lot of potential to be a great provider of IDD services. There are many who would be great mentors if they had such a program

Cons

Employee morale is very low and it does not seem to be a concern for upper management. Too many unprofessional people in lower management positions. Not much is communicated down the pipeline when changes occur.

Pros

Staff really cares about community and clients they serve. There is opportunity to grow if you have the educational background. Company is strong standing and has higher salary than most non profit mental health out patient programs.

Cons

Some of the leaders are not strong enough to be in their position. Job can be stressful at times. Turn over rate can be high at certain locations.

Pros

Working with special needs population is quite enjoyable and rewarding.

Cons

Where to begin, this (dis)organization is a HORRIBLE place to work, extremely high turnover rate on all levels of employment. Too many "middle-men" information gets lost warped and misconstrued. Managers that lack management ability, steal money from the company, steal food and resources from the clients in the group homes. There were days clients had little to no food to eat , shoes with holes in them, winter coats with rips and tears in them in the month of February! House managers withhold vital information from group home staff like training dates and do you know who gets in trouble the STAFF not the manager. You will be called in to administration offices for investigations for things you know nothing of and YES you will be held accountable in some way or another and you will be given a "verbal warning" which is a FORMAL document that you must sign, they keep it in your records so that if they decide to terminate you they will have a reason to not grant you unemployment. Dates on "formal" documents will be altered/falsified to make it seem as if proper and timely protocol has been made when your were actually presented with the document two days ago. The "higher-ups" are ignorant of everything that goes on in the group home settings nor do they care, they only cover things up to make it appear as if they have done what they should to cover their own behinds. There are policies that are blatantly disregarded by mangers and administration when it suits them. There is no appreciation for all the hard work and utter crap that direct care staff must go through on a daily basis. Group home staff are overworked because of the high turnover having to work 3+ shifts in a row and if they fall asleep because they haven't slept in over 48 hours they are then immediately terminated. AVS was an amazing company to work for until NHS took over and corrupted it all, now it is disgraceful, filled with malicious, vindictive, lying, back stabbing people who care only of themselves, not even the clients. I pray this place is shut down for good and taken to court for all the wrong that it has caused the clients and its employees both past and present.
