Pros

You can access extensive training program and easily get to know your work. People are very friendly if they are not stressed or over-burdened. Having culture to cooperate each other, so you may be feel free to ask your colleagues if you are in trouble. Nice benefit and compensation packaging and even you can develop your carrier using internal / external resources. You can maintain your work-life balance well.

Cons

Lack of innovation Entire operation are too slow to fit the challenging environment of this industry. Too big to make great things happen. Lack of leadership Some manager does not understand the direction where the company should be headed. Too many paper work or meetings without obvious purposes Too many conflict among managers

Pros

Depending on line manager: you might have quite some freedom to operate, can result in interesting and challenging projects to work on - or not.... Workload very moderate, hence there are lots of long-time Merck employees taking things easily.

Cons

Uncertainty around the future of the consumer business - very small (only 4%) or company turnover, quality of local teams in markets varies from decent to poor, rumour has it that the business will be sold.

Pros

safe job, nice additional benefits like health programs etc., company which has two major segments: chemistry and pharma - if one industry is having problems, the other could still have a good performance

Cons

too big hierarchies - long decision taking processes, sometimes it is like working at the governmental administration, often carreers are not been decided by know-how but by know who ;-); often people are becoming management without getting management skills by a training
