Pros

I cannot speak for all employees since this Schering is a very large corporation with many different areas. I can only speak for the area I currently work under. The best reason is the "easy-going" nature of my group. They are not clock watchers. They are of the opinion that if your job is complete you can go home. Of course they do expect in times of need that you go the extra mile.

Cons

The company seems to keep getting itself into problems. Again this year we will have no raises, no promotions etc. There have been a lot of layoffs this year and the work envronment is not great. A lot of people are worried and not terribly happy.

Pros

Many high-performers, and there was a strong team spirit until the company ran into trouble. It could be a great company again, for those who can gut out the current troubles.

Cons

The company has encountered serious trouble, and large staff cuts have been made without regard to individual performance. Elements of cuts have not been rational -- high performers axed, and their positions later posted as new openings. Clearly not well thought out.

Pros

It is a large company so very anonymous. You can get by here in a Wally-like" way and not be noticed for years if you do a minimum of work.

Cons

Management elevated by the Peter Principle. They promote good workers who have no management skills rather than hire or create/train managers. Two faced management. They project that they are ethical and give us nothing but ethics/compliance training, yet lie about their clinical trials. They cut or force out good people to increase shareholder value. This is an awful place to work. Everyone who was knowledgeable from Organon has left.
