      Pros

      Culture of innovation and freedom granted by management. Supportive and dedicated colleagues. Good compensation and benefits. Healthy work life balance.

      Cons

      Continuous layoffs, closures and restructuring make future uncertain. Possibility for advancement is difficult and there are few training benefits. Morale seems to be low.

      Pros

      Extremely innovative company that was one of the most respected in the industry. Until recently, most of the science was performed in-house, with top-notch scientists. Several first-in-class compounds put Merck ahead of its competitors in the late 90s/early 2000s.

      Cons

      Was a great place to work prior to merger with Schering-Plough. Now scientists spend more time worrying about their jobs than accomplishing tasks in the laboratory. Management is only interested in meeting numbers. A freeze has been placed on all promotions and new-hires for the last 18 months, resulting in higher workloads and low moral.

      Pros

      Growth avenue is great. Exciting place to work and learn. Many opportunities for different carrer path. People are kind and understanding

      Cons

      Need good direction Bonus is not great.. Just do it and no strong room for communications. Maybe to big a company, fear of on-going retrenchment
