I have had good luck with compentent managers at Merck

Cons

Merck cannot supply vaccines to their customers. The manufacturing division is a mess!! Over the past 2 years they have taken away bonus from sales reps in the vaccine division.

Management & HR have a general lack of ethics, integrity & absence of moral-compass: "double-speak", ignoring & bending of the rules, favoritism, subjective reviews, & "good-ole-girl" mentality, are pervasive cultural maladies.

Smart people, good pay and benefits. Great exposure to science.

Cons

Expectation of long working hours. Everyone type A and competitive. Everyone is so smart they can do anything. They therefore waste time doing things they are not the best at. Work stealing is common. It is dog eat dog, which is ultimately unproductive for the company.
